ALERT Cadet fathers and sons from our North Central region will be gathering in Wisconsin for our first ever father and son camp at the Wilderness Fellowship Camp facility. For more on the site visit, www.wildernessfellowship.com. The camp is located near Frederic, Wisconsin, 90 minutes Northeast of the Twin Cities. The facility offers tent camping or rustic cabin accommodations with plenty of hiking trails, and two fishing lakes.

This camp is designed to help strengthen father and son relationships as fathers “set their sights” on the goal of mentoring mature sons who will effectively serve and lead others. We will be studying what it means to be a Biblical man using the model from 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and the requirements for a man to be an elder or overseer in a church.

Cost for the camp, including all meals is $120 per person for those desiring to stay in a cabin and $100 for those who desire to stay in their own, self-provided tents. To register for the camp, either call the ALERT Cadet office at 903-636-9228 or e-mail us at mailto:cadets@alertacademy.com.

To avoid conflicts at the camp we have adjusted our ALERT Cadet schedule to start on Tuesday, June 10 and end on Friday, June 13. Plan to arrive at the camp on the afternoon of the 10th as the first activity will be dinner that evening. We’ll finish the formal activities in the late morning on Friday so you will be able to head home by noon.

Cost: $100 per person (self-provided tent)
$120 per person (cabin accommodations)
Transportation: None provided.

November 27, 2008toNovember 29, 2008

This camp will be an appropriate mix of learning, practicing skills, outdoor activity, biblical teaching, and just plain fun.
A service project, utilizing the learned skills and assisting the camp hosting location, will be a part of the camp to help fathers and sons learn a heart for service and to defray some of the costs.
The goal the camp is to give fathers the opportunity to win and keep the hearts of their sons as they grow and develop.
Camp starts on the evening of the first day with dinner and ends with lunch on the last day.

Cost: $195 father and one son (self-provided tent)
$245 father and one son (cabin, where available)
$50 each additional son (tent or same cabin)
Transportation: None provided.

The ALERT Cadet Southeastern Regional Father Son Camp will focus on preparing you to respond to the needs of your family and your community in times of crisis. Upon successful completion of the camp, you will earn the ALERT Cadet Crisis Response Training (CRT) ribbon. Skills you will learn include:

 Land search and recovery,

  • Orienteering,
  • The national Incident Command System,
  • Wilderness first-aid including patient care and packaging,
  • Outdoor survival and shelter building, and
  • Sawyer (chainsaw) skills.

We have set aside time for fathers and sons to spend time one-on-one with each other. Many camp participants find these one-on-one times to be the highlight of the camp!

We plan to hike through some of the most beautiful woods of northern Georgia. On the hike we’ll visit an 855-foot-long wall constructed on the top of the mountain as a Civil War fortification.

Our morning wisdom searches will focus on “The Production of Fruit” in our lives and in the lives of others. Our evening speakers will share life lessons on “The Preservation of Fruit” as well as “How to Finish Life Well.”

We will be staying in self-provided tents at the beautiful Fort Mountain State Park. All food is provided, and all activity fees are included in the camp cost of $195 per father and first son. Additional sons are only $50 each.

ALERT Cadet Captain Gary Reckner is the camp organizer. For more information and camp specifics, you may contact him at 270-835-7331 or by e-mail at recknerfamily@gmail.com.
