Gentlemen,

God, in His infinite wisdom, caused Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, to counsel Moses in the administration of the nation of Israel. In like fashion, many wise men have given me counsel regarding expansion of the leadership structure of the ALERT Cadet program to handle the current growth and prepare for future growth.

Effective immediately, ALERT Cadet will implement a regional and area structure that will allow a closer connection between its members and leaders.  The rank structure in ALERT Cadet will also change to accommodate the need for additional leaders, as follows:

  • The ALERT Cadet Commanding Officer will now be a Lieutenant Colonel and will maintain responsibility for overall vision and direction of the program and ministry. He will also focus on broadening the reach of ALERT Cadet to assist more fathers to win and keep the hearts of their 8 to 17-year-old sons.
  • ALERT Cadet Regional Leaders will now be Majors and will focus on broadening the impact of ALERT Cadet on fathers and sons. They will spearhead work to improve the program, personally share the vision with various community groups and churches, plan and execute regional service projects and camps, and work to strengthen existing units and leadership. Regions will typically be large areas of states (in the US), a large country, or a large group of smaller countries.
  • ALERT Cadet Area Leaders will now be Captains and will focus primarily on strengthening the existing units in their area and on starting new units. They will work with local Lieutenants in sharing the ALERT Cadet ministry with home school book fairs, local churches, and community groups. Areas will typically be a state or small group of states (in the US or larger countries) or a small group of smaller countries.

Also effectively immediately, the Senior Leadership Team of ALERT Cadet will consist of the following men:

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel – Roger Farr

Cadet Major

  • Randy McDonald – South Central US Leader
  • Gary Reckner – Southeast US Leader
  • Sreedhar Subramaniam – Austral Asia Leader
  • Bill Waddell – Northeast US Leader

Cadet Captain

  • Jeff Bocchino – Florida Leader
  • Tom Butler – Kansas, Oklahoma Leader
  • Doug Dagarin – New England States Leader
  • Lanny Glover – Arkansas, Mississippi Leader
  • Kum Thong Phoon – Malaysia, Singapore Leader
  • Michael Smith – Eastern Texas Leader
  • John Smythe – Washington, Oregon Leader
  • Tod Stoner – Tennessee, Missouri Leader
  • Bill Stuckey – North and South Carolina Leader
  • Andrew Voell – Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland Leader
  • Dean Winchell – Minnesota, Wisconsin Leader
  • Andrew Yoon – New Jersey, New York City Leader

The new ALERT Cadet organization plans for additional regional (Major) and area (Captain) level leadership. We are praying for these leaders to emerge in God’s timing. Geographic areas not specifically mentioned above will be handled by the ALERT Cadet Headquarters office. The new organization chart will soon be available on the ALERT Cadet website at http://www.alertcadet.org/about/. Pictures and profiles on these men will also be available on the web at the same location.

Most of these men met together in Big Sandy for our Senior Leadership Conference from January 20-24, 2010. In summary, the conference confirmed the future direction of ALERT Cadet, and much of the discussion related to taking a good tool and making it a great tool for use in God’s kingdom. I will report to you on the specific results of that conference in later e-mails.

Please join me in congratulating these men on their new positions. Also, please pray for them as they assume their new responsibilities amidst all the pressures of training and raising their own sons well, maintaining spiritual intimacy with their wives and God, and providing for their own households.

I am grateful for their service and look forward to what God will do with this sharp tool called ALERT Cadet.

In Christ,

Lt. Col. Roger D. Farr
ALERT Cadet Commanding Officer
