I am pleased to announce that the completely revised ALERT Cadet Basic Training Manual (BTM) is now available!

For several years we have wanted to totally rewrite the BTM to make it more user-friendly but just did not have the resources to get the job done. God provided the resources this summer, in the form of several creative young people, and we were able to complete the project. Since this is the introductory book to ALERT Cadet, we also wanted it to more closely reflect our other publications in format, look, and feel. Similarly we wanted to establish the accountability and relationship between an ALERT Cadet father and son as they begin the program.

In the new BTM you will see the following major changes:

There are now four, one-week long sections.

  • Each week includes the following:
    • ALERT Cadet program information,
    • Scripture memory,
    • Scripture meditation,
    • Life skills,
    • Adventure or service projects, and
    • Physical training.
  • The only required memorization is now Scripture verses and the ALERT Cadet covenant and theme song.
  • Physical training is now introduced from the beginning, including proper stretching exercises.

All through the new BTM you will find encouragement to press on to the finish, complete the manual, apply to join ALERT Cadet, and participate with a local unit. We want fathers and sons to finish the BTM in a timely manner so they can enjoy the fellowship and encouragement of being with like-minded fathers in the ALERT Cadet program.

Beginning September 1 all new ALERT Cadet Basic Training applicants will receive the new BTM with their initial package from ALERT Cadet. If you have registered with us in the past weeks, we have been holding your shipment knowing the new manuals were on their way.

For those wanting to “upgrade” to the new BTM, we are offering a special deal as an encouragement to fathers and sons. For the month of September 2009 only, you may purchase the new BTM for $2 each plus postage and sales tax for Texas residents. After September the cost will go up to the normal price of $5 each, plus postage and sales tax for Texas residents. Remember that a father and each of his 8 to 17-year-old sons need a new BTM.
