Gentlemen,

The ALERT Cadet team has been working diligently this year to complete several curriculum projects.  Among these are a total rewrite of the 1st year curriculum, the Novice Handbook (complete), a total rewrite of the Basic Training Manual (expected October), and completion of the 4th year curriculum, the Servant Handbook (now complete!).  God has been good to bring the resources and skills together to push these much needed projects forward.

I’m writing today to inform you that the Servant Handbook is now complete, published, printed, and in our warehouse!  This is a tremendous praise as it has been in progress for three years, just awaiting the proper resources to finish the project.

The Servant Handbook, focusing on personal evangelism and leadership, covers the following topics:

• memorization of the entire book of 1 Timothy,
• lessons on the character qualities of boldness, enthusiasm, thriftiness, love, sensitivity, and hospitality,
• evangelistic tools such as the “Bridge to Life Illustrations” and how to have an evangelistic Bible study with young people from your neighborhood, and
• event planning including how to hold a neighborhood games day.

Of course, every activity is designed for fathers and sons to work on together as a father gains the son’s heart and trains him for godly manhood.

The leadership of ALERT Cadet wants to encourage fathers and sons to grow in their relationship together and in making steady progress through the handbooks.  Many ALERT Cadet members have found the handbooks to be excellent tools to teach character and skills to their sons.  Each phase manual is designed to be completed in six weeks and thus a whole handbook, containing six phase manuals, in one year.

Normally the ALERT Cadet Handbooks, which consist of six individual “Phase Manuals” and a three-ring binder, are sold for $35 each.  We would like to offer existing ALERT Cadet members the following special deal, valid until September 30, 2009, only.

For ALERT Cadet members who would like to upgrade to the new 2nd Edition Novice Handbook, they may purchase the entire set of four ALERT Cadet handbooks: Novice, Pilgrim, Craftsman, and Servant for $100, a savings of $40.

For ALERT Cadet members who already upgraded to the new 2nd Edition Novice Handbook, they may purchase the remaining three ALERT Cadet handbooks: Pilgrim, Craftsman, and Servant for $75, a savings of $30.

If you are already working on either the Pilgrim or Craftsman handbooks and want to purchase the remaining handbooks, you can do so at a cost of $25 per handbook.

I encourage you to work diligently with your sons through the ALERT Cadet materials.  They have been designed with the busy father in mind.  Many home schooling families also incorporate the ALERT Cadet materials into their daily lesson plans.
