The introductory letter to the Year End report follows:
GREETINGS,
I’d like to tell you, through this year-end report, stories of changed
lives and of the ministry called ALERTCadet.
ALERT Cadet, begun in 1996, exists for the purpose of “assisting fathers to win and keep the
hearts of their 8 to 17-year-old sons.” We view ourselves as a partner with fathers in the
raising of their young men to be the next generation of godly fathers, husbands,
leaders, and wage-earners who will mightily influence the world for Christ.
As a husband and father myself of two sons and one daughter, now aged 22, 21, and
19, I know first-hand the struggles of balancing all the roles a man must fulfill today
to be effective. It is not an easy task God has given to fathers, but it is what we must
do. I am still actively involved in parenting my three adult children so that they are
properly prepared for the tasks God has set before them. the time I spent with them,
over the last ten years, working together in the alert Cadet program is now
bearing sweet fruit in their lives and bringing great joy to my wife and me.
In the pages that follow, you’ll meet men who are changing the world, one
son at a time. these are the stories of real men, just like you and me, who are,
with the assistance of almighty God, making an impact with
their sons, and in the process, being changed themselves. I
hope you see yourself in their stories and pictures.
For our alert Cadet members, I want you to rejoice in what
God is doing in our midst. For those of you considering
joining, I want you to be encouraged and to see hope for
you and your son. Finally, for those of you currently, or
considering, supporting us in prayer or financially, I want
you to see, first-hand, the impact of your support. In the
last pages you will find a few statistics on the ministry and
our plans for the next five years.
May God receive the glory from this ministry, others the credit, and
us the eternal joy of having served. When my time on this earth is
complete, I look forward to hearing, “Well done, thou good and faithful
servant. enter into the joy of your Master!”
In Christ’s service,
Major Roger D. Farr
