ALERT Cadet regional and international camps assist ALERT Cadet fathers in three ways, as camps:
- Serve as tools to motivate their sons and encourage them to love and good deeds.
- Provide opportunities to receive training in specialized areas that might not be available for every family.
- Allow travel to different places, create life-long memories, and provide time spent in God’s out-of-doors learning environment.
“Created for Great Works” is the theme for the 2010 ALERT Cadet sponsored camps. Paul exhorts young Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:19-26 to be a vessel unto honor and good works and to lay aside things that would easily entangle him and take him out of the battle. Paul also instructs Timothy, as a servant of the Lord, to “…not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. It is a high calling for young Timothy, and for the young men of today. Fathers, we must work with our young men to grow them up in wisdom and give them the skills to teach others and the character to be patient with those who are still developing in their faith. Our camp wisdom searches and evening messages will focus on practical application of these truths in the lives of fathers and sons. We hope you will be able to join us at one of our camps!
We offer three different types of camps, each serving a unique purpose.
Father/Son Camps
Father/Son camps combine outdoor activities, practical skills instruction, service projects, and Bible teaching to aid fathers in winning the hearts of their sons. These camps often include a service project, structured skill and Bible teaching, and ample free time for father and son interaction. The winter camp will require extra gear, while the service camps will have reduced fees in exchange for significant service at the camp facilities.
Father/Son High Adventure Camps
These camps will be physically demanding for both fathers and sons, but they will afford opportunities to see venues and do activities not otherwise available in a normal camping environment. The administrative costs are minimal, but each family will be responsible for providing their food and procuring the necessary gear to have a safe and memorable experience. Each participant will be responsible for transporting his own gear. Campers will sleep outdoors, prepare their own meals, and be expected to care for themselves in weather conditions that can be extreme.
Leadership Training Corps (LTC) Camps
LTC camps equip ALERT Cadets aged 13 and older with leadership training and specialized skills. Our desire is that these trained young men assume greater leadership responsibility in their ALERT Cadet units and teach the skills they have learned. Fathers are welcome, but not required, to participate with their sons.
Eligibility
To participate in all ALERT Cadet Camps, you must have completed the ALERT Cadet Basic Training Manual (BTM) before the camp. The BTM can be completed in as little as 28 days.
